House of the Rock will feature a special Summer Sermon Series, entitled "Rock Life in the City." The series explores the topics of Prayer, Relationships, Money and Living Life Lutheran. Our pre-worship Bible study will correspond to each Sunday's sermon texts.
The third part of our summer sermon series begins this Sunday at 5 p.m. in the Redeemer sanctuary. A total of three Sundays will be devoted to the topic of finances. Jonathan Trapp will be preaching from Mark 10: 17-22. Some us feel as if we never have enough money. If we hold onto it tightly, it can cause us to miss other blessings God puts in our lives.
Pastor Seyward Ask steps up to the pulpit to talk about our own personal role in relationships. Relationships are places where we serve each other, and sometimes that means doing mundane, gross tasks. No task is beneath us, even literally or figuratively washing the feet of our fellow children of God. The text will be John 13: 1-8.
The HOTR sermon series, "Rock Life in the City," continues on Sunday with part two on relationships. Week two, entitled "Fighting Like Cats and Dogs," takes a look at conflict. It happens to all of us, but must be faced directly. Forgiveness is essential, and sometimes we need outside help. Pastor Devin will be drawing from Matthew (18: 15-20). Remember worship is at 5 p.m. Sunday in the Redeemer sanctuary.
Our summer sermon series, "Rock Life in the City" continues tomorrow with a new focus! With a sermon entitled "The Gift of Pleasure," we'll take a look at sexuality. Sexuality is a gift from God, not a source of shame, and all gifts have their place. Chris Smith will be drawing from Song of Songs (7: 1-7), and preaching about how sexuality and faith intertwine.
